WHat cables need changed? 4 gauge upgrade
before you say it, I did use the search funcion and I am more confused than ever after 2 hours of reading.
I have a 2005 PDS cart. How many cables get changed? Just the 5 for the batts? what about the ones going into the PDS cover? I cleaned the batts cables today and the 4 cables on the motor and 2 of them look like 4 gauge? are they? I don't mind payning for cables and I don't mind making them either, but if I buy one of the more complete sets, will I or should I be changing every cable? Thanks guys. ManI need to leave this thing alone. It ahs consumed my last 4 days. |

On a PDS the ones going to the motor should already be 4 ga.
You need to change the ones on top of the batteries and the one's going from the battery pack to the "stuff" under the controller cover ! Be sure to use good quality high strand count welding 4 ga cable, something with 390 strands or more. |

You change all of them, batteries, controller, solenoid. Yes, the OEM to the motor are 4 gauge, but with it being a 2005 model, they are already 5 years old and due for a change anyway. There are premade sets available for your cart...

Re: WHat cables need changed? 4 gauge upgrade
Mike the controller and solenoid is under the PDS cover right? I just started reading through the repair/service manual. I guess with it being 2005 I should change them all. I think I read so much I about cables tonight that I started going in circles.
Thanks Guys |

Yes, you are correct. We've got a nice set that are premade, but they can be done yourself. You have your 5 battery cables, 2 motor cables, battery to controller, battery to solenoid and solenoid nto controller wires. Have you upgraded the controller yet?

No I haven't and not sure if I will since I have decided against a lift for now. I might still do the controller, but need to drop some coin on batts first.
Thanks |

Unless you are lifting the stock controller will work perfectly.
I agree with mike, Replace every cable. It wont hurt a thing. It will actuatly help. I still dont know why EZGO dont just do 4ga. wires, they cost me less than the 6 ga kits. It is just crazy. |

6g is all that is required for 2 men, their clubs and a round of golf. Economics suck.
