Default 1988 EZ Go Brake drum removal

Hi all, I did search of the site and read up on all the different question and past answers, but did not find exactly what I needed.

I have an 88 marathon, will not stop when going down my steep hill, will slow a bit but can't get it to stop. I jacked up the back wheel, put the brake on so I could get the axle nut off. took the brake off, hit the drum with a hammer a few time but still the drum wont come off. I have looked for an adjustment nut inside, but none exist. there does not seem to be nut adjustment to the brake cable, at least not at the rear axle. Can I or should I shoot some wd40 in between the drum and backplate and keep tapping and prying ? or is there an adjustment I am not seeing right now.

thanks for the help

aloha

Pull the clevis pin connecting the cable to the shoe activator lever. and with a flashlight find the adjuster through the hole in the drum.... back the shoes off considerably...... now try again. The drums rust to the axle and can be a BEAR to remove sometimes

This is the best web site in the universe !!! I ask a question before I go to bed and I get up and there is my answers. It's like praying to the golf cart internet gods. :-) Mahalo guys for the answers. I will adjust the cable first to see how that works on stopping. It looks like item 56 is the adjustment. or in that area. Will print out brake diagrams.

thanks again Rib33024 and Scotty
