Just looking at some Jakes lift kits to possible replace my Hillbilly lift. What are the advantages/disadvantages of the spindle lift vs. the a-arm lifts?

My cart has home made steel plates bolted on the front that essentially lift the body away from the arms. It's dumb I know, but it works fro now. And the rear has nothing done to it. It just has larger shocks that allow the entire carriage to pivot more. What do you add with a jakes lift for the rear?

I might just buy a kit that comes with tires because buying tires/wheels seperately cost nearly 500 dollars, might as well buy a lift with it fot 650.

I was going to just mount bigger tired on my stock wheels, but the options are very limited.

Depends on what you want to do with it? The a-arms in my opinion are a much sturdier lift option. But, for what we do around my neighbor hood spindle lifts are plenty sturdy.

At least with a a-arm set up you are replacing most of the components up front, if you just do spindle, then you are only replacing the spindle itself. Ess is right, it depends on how you want it and what you plan to do with it.

You won't go wrong with a Jakes 6" A arm lift. Very strong, been running one on my G9 for years with no problems.

As far as I know, there is no spindle lift for a G2/G9. You would be very happy with the Jakes kit.

anyone have pictures of an installed jakes lift for the rear of a yamaha? What are the downsides of not having anything to lift the rear? Like I said earlier, mine just has longer shocks which let the entire engine carriage pivot more.

ck, with a "plate" lift on the front and longer shocks on the rear you are probably plenty stable for most off-roading you may want to do, other than going whole hog expensive on a true long travel. I think I would spend the money on the only thing that will get you more clearance, bigger tires. Go at least 22" with whatever combo (10" 12") that you like!

I have to agree with all the BIG guys here. The Jakes lift is a very stable kit and a good looking setup (every thing tucked up high)! Strong and reliable! And I did 23" 489's and would do that size again! I put some reinforcement in the front in these pictures.

I found some Mud Busters that are 22" and they will mount on 8" wheels. All I have to do is find out if my current wheels have an offset. If they do I think I'll buy the 22x11x8's. If I end up having to buy new wheels, then I'll go to the 22x11x10's. What is the advantage to having 10" wheels over 8"? (besides having a ton more tire options).
