EZGO diagnostic flow chart question

My sister has a stock 2000 model EZGO series cart that just stopped running. I started troubleshooting with the EZGO flow chart, got down to 'Reference voltage'. What does it mean by 'reference voltage'? The solenoid did click and I measured voltage between B+ & M - on the controller, but I can't remember the voltage for sure, but I think it was like between 1-2 volts?

The first thing the testing tells you to do is check the battery Pack Voltage. Every test done thereafter that refers to Refrence Voltage is refering to the Battery Pack Voltage.

for example, if your pack voltage is 38.7 and you start running tests, I believe the next test is on the battery side of the solenoid and it should read 38.7 volts (your reference voltage).

As for getting that reading from B+ to M-, Voltage at that point is going to depend on the accel pedal position.

Thanks, my battery voltage was right at 36 volts, so I was going to charge the batteries. I plugged in the Powerwise charger and the needle went to the right for a second then went back to zero, but the battery charger was still humming. Any idea what's going on with that?

You may have a worn receptacle = not a good connection? Check the pack to see if the charger is putting out a charge?

Yeah Scotty I was thinking about the possibility of a bad Radsock, or it could be a bad connection on any of the battery wires.

actually in addition to the radsock, check the white insulator that surrounds the radsock. I have had those get old and brittle and cause a weak connection.

As for voltage from the charger, I typically see anything from 38-42 volts output from them.
