94 Medalist EZGO Non-DCS Help with FNR Switch
Hey everybody.
I was wondering if there is anybody out there that would give me some of their time and a picture of the front and rear of the FNR assembly on an EZGO Medalist 1994 non-dcs golf cart? I have just cleaned the micro switche for the reverse and thought I reattached correctly, but the cart will not move now. Before I cleaned micro switch, the cart was going forward no problem. Now it does nothing but click the solenoid. If you can help, I would appreciate it. Thanks. |

Re: 94 Medalist EZGO Non-DCS Help with FNR Switch
Yes, thanks Jim. That helps. Too bad the wiring is not the problem. I hope it is only the solenoid and not the controller.
As i said previously, the cart worked fine in forward the night before with the forward microswitch cleaned. I then attemped to clean the reverse microswitch and as soon as I got it back together, the solenoid only clicks now, no fwd, no rev. After this happened, I tore apart the FNR switch and cleaned all the contacts. The spring still provides the pressure for the buss bars to make contact. I've checked the motor out with a 12V battery, it spins fine. Is there any way to check out the controller using a multimeter? I have bypassed the solenoid by wiring the two large posts that are 180 degrees from each other (I think this is the correct method) Are there any other checks I can do to determine if it is not the controller? Thanks for any information. |

Likely the trouble is with the micros..... check to see you have power in and out of both micro switches when you shift into gear?

Re: 94 Medalist EZGO Non-DCS Help with FNR Switch
Micros appear fine.
When in Fwd, the micro switch to driver's side reads 38.1V on both switch contacts. The Reverse micro switch reads 38.1V on the side that is connected to Fwd Micro Switch. The farthest switch contact (Reverse) reads 0V. When in Reverse, both micro switches read 38.1V on all switch contacts. Is there a voltage check across the Controller depending on state of pedal? Thanks. |

Hook the red probe to the B+ on the controller and the black probe to the M- on the controller. As you depress the pedal, you should read voltage across those 2 terminals of the controller.

Re: 94 Medalist EZGO Non-DCS Help with FNR Switch
Okay, got a chance to check out the voltages. The solenoid is brand new.
Here is what I found just now. Voltages were the same with the key On or Off. At FNR switch posts In FWD: All posts were 38.4V. In Neutral: .9V on top post 0V on both side posts 37.3V on bottom post In REV: All posts were 38.4 V. At Controller In FWD: A2 = 38.4V B+ = 38.4v B- = 0 V M- = 38.4V In Neutral: A2 = .9V B+ = 38.9V B- = 0V M- = .9V In REV: A2 = 38.4V B+ = 38.4V B- = 0V M- = 38.4V If somebody could let me know if these voltages check out, let me know. Thanks for your time. |
