Default Led bulbs

I tried to use a set of 1157 led bulbs in my tail lights, but they don't work. They fit but won't light. Does anyone know what I need to do to get them to work? I replaced my red tail light lens with clear ones and would like a red led bulb. Will I have to use a standard red bulb?

One thing I can think of would be to check polarity. LEDs are polarity sensitive, unlike an incandescent bulb. You might need to reverse your wiring to get it to work. Beyond that, there's the basic "check the fuse".

I re-installed the stock bulb and it works.I also tried to flip the led bulb to see if it was a polarity issue and still got nothing. Could I need a resistor on the wires? Does the led bulb just draw too little power for the socket to notice the bulb?

Prove the LED bulb with some test leads and a 12vdc source.

I used a 12v power supply direct to the bulb and it works. I had to put the positive to the bulb and the negative to the side of the bulb for a ground. Do the standard bulbs just don't ground or am I missing something. I installed a different 1157 amber bulb and it works. So how do I get the led to ground?

Yes,they are ground to the battery. This is really bugging me.Could it be that the stock bulb was a 2057 and the new one is a 1157 led?,But the amber bulbs are 1157 but not leds, and they work. (Luckily I shave my head or I would be ripping it out.)

LED bulb verified.
Socket verified.
LED will not work in socket.

Conclusion: LED bulb not making contact in socket.

How many wires lead to the socket?
How many terminals on LED bulb?
Does the LED bulb base look identical to the bulb base that works?
