check the socket for power on the inner studs and ground on the outter casing. I have seen a few that ran opposite. Don't ask me why, but for some reason the manufacturers love to make weird changes like that.......

Try switching the positive and negative wires for the lights. The socket may be wired backwards for the LED. Standard bulbs aren't polarity sensitive, so the manufacturer might not have been paying too close to details on assembly. LEDs need the correct polarity or they won't work.

I had this same issue w/ a motorcycle a few years back. In my situation I had to rewire the LED lights on a seperate DC harness, whereas the stock tailight and headlight assys. were AC off the stator. Polarity Sensitive - Yes! While they would work off a typical AC system, mine couldnt handle the draw to get the bulbs to initiate. While LED's take far less power to run than bulbs, the LED's also take a lot more to turn on.
I suggest you just run new wires w/ in-line fuse off the 12v battery, you can utlize stock brake/light switches. It's the quickest/easiest solution and is a guaranteed fix.
