Re: Alltrax DCX400 + Regen?
Everything you need to know is in the software .... It shows you how to power up each different kind of alltrax controller and what each adjustable feature does. Read it all twice before you start programming. All of your questions will be answered and you will be given some very important info I'm sure I would forget if I attempted to teach it

Re: Alltrax DCX400 + Regen?
I just checked, they don't :( However, I do have a few virtual machines running on my Mac which would work and I also have a small netbook that should work. All I need is a power source and I am set.

Re: Alltrax DCX400 + Regen?
Went to the website from there software section.
http://www.alltraxinc.com/Products_ControllerPro.html The Programmable Alltrax Electric Motor Controllers such as the AXE (Series wound motors) and the DCX (Shunt wound motors) include an RS232 communications port. This port can be used to adjust user settings such as throttle type, power settings, and speed settings. It can also be used to monitor operation of the controller real time. The program runs on Microsoft Windows(TM) based machines, laptops or desktops using simple user friendly controls. Alltrax provides this software down-loadable free of charge (cables not included). Controller Pro software has not been run on MAC(TM) based machines. A kit can be purchased from Alltrax which includes: * Communications cable - RS232 to USB adapter * CD-R with Controller PRO operators manual, tech-notes, and the Controller PRO software program * Wall wart (120 VAC 60Hz transformer) supplies 15-20 VoltsDC to power the logic for programming. (International 220VAC 50Hz input to 15-20 VoltsDC transformers also available) * Instruction Manual & Technical notes (Available from web site) * Free technical support |

Re: Alltrax DCX400 + Regen?
Scotty,
I have downloaded all of the diagrams and manuals to programming, it seems to be pretty easy, but taking your advice and reading it MULTIPLE times, as I have heard it only takes a second to fry a controller. Do you mind explaining, or sending me a tutorial on that 9volt setup? Thanks. |

Re: Alltrax DCX400 + Regen?
A 9 volt battery has a positive and a negative terminal on the top of it. Take a fresh 9v and touch your tongue across both terminals.
That was fun! Okay, notice the terminals are marked + and - and are male and female... plug one battery - into the other battery +. They are now in series like your golf cart batteries....... Check them with your meter. You should have 18v. Proceed as per the instructions found in the program pro software for your controller hook up. |

Re: Alltrax DCX400 + Regen?
If you have a stable virtual machine running on the mac then you should have not problem, but I think you would be better off using your small netbook,,,,JMO.

Scotty, I have looked inside the software and I am afraid I cannot find how to effectively take the 2-9v and make them useful to the setup. And I am charging you for the medical bill for my burnt tongue. Just kidding. |

Re: Alltrax DCX400 + Regen?
Scotty,
I looked at that diagram and found how to set up the 9 volts. I have a quick question though. How did you make the positive cable into 5 connectors?! |
