That is right, with the charger cord run through the steering wheel and then plugged into the cart, you have a good safety system, also notice how the plug is located where the driver can hardly get in the cart with it sticking out as far as it does.
It is pretty safe to by pass the reed switch altogether and use the old 'cord through the steering wheel' habit of charging.

Once you have blown the reed switch you may want to find out why or what caused the failure.

That's good advice, scottyb. I wonder if it applies to miserable users?

I found the glass broken on mine and the switch was corroded and it lost contact.

As others have mentioned, that "was" the sole purpose of the reed switch.

I say "was" because EZGO eliminated the reed switch in later model years. Probably due to all the complaints about them failing during operation and disabling the cart out in the middle of nowhere.

Thank you very much....the support on this forum has been nothing short of awesome. If I can ever help....please let me know....Im pretty good on the older carts. This was my first PDS....and its really not that much different from the older styles except for the electronics....and that was a little scary at first but with help from the kind folks here I was able to figure it out...
I also found that if you run a magnet on the outside of the housing where the reed switch resides it will break the circuit and kill everything. Kool stuff.
