1984 columbia newbie
Hello everyone! I have a new (old) cart and I am stoked about the purchase and whatever work needs to be done. Let's start with the cart -- VIN is 3B 11510 C4. As best I can find that makes it a 1984 Columbia G3 cart. I looked up the battery and at least know it's a 12 volt system....
I bought the cart this AM as a "parts cart" but I don't beleive that's what it is. Apparently "the owners kids were riding it around a couple years ago and dicked with with f/off/r switch while driving it. At that point it stopped running . Since then someone has looked at it, maybe one of the kids, and gave up. That is where I come in - I don't give up.... usually it costs me a lot of money - -hahahahhahah. Anyhow I am looking for a service manual for my ride and understand (from a friend who has a running NEW ezgo) someone here could point me in the right direction. If I need or have to bypass the switch/ignition or re-wire the whole **** thing i'm good with that too. Anything helps. Did I mention I paid $90 for the whole thing?! Thanks |

Re: 1984 columbia newbie
Jeggers - Thanks man. I had seen those before but I was looking for the service manual as well. I see that I can get the owners and parts manual - If I can't figure out what I doing (for the most part) between those, I should hang up my tools! This one could use some work for sure, and there are already some, um let's call them, customizations to the cart, but overall I'm pretty happy with it. Here are some pics (as long as they upload). Thanks for having me in the forum!

Re: 1984 columbia newbie
so the kids are keeping me busy, but I gota look at the motor, etc. got everything cleaned off so I could look at it. There has been some jerry-riggining going on but nothing I can't straighen out. Anyhow I see thatr some carts are oil injected and some need to be premixed with oil. There is this jerry rigged funnel with a tube going into the engine cooling fan/cover - - is that for oil injection? Would I bypass that whole system/rigging and jusr pre mix according to the manual? other than less to think about, is there an advantage? seems to me that the less amoutn of oarts to count on, the less amount of parts to break... does anyone have an engine area picture.
I have to go a new battery (the one in it won;t try to charge).... Then maybe I can jumps some wires and see if she'll fire. I plan to soa the piston ans rngs in mystery oil before getting too crazy, New plug, etc etc Thanks again everyone |
