Default 1999 DS new brake shoes problem

I changed the brake shoes on my 99 DS today. after installed I couldnt get the shoes adjusted far enough out to contact the drum.

I bought a set of 10l10 shoes from Amazon for a 99 CC DS.
My brother in law was changing his breakes on his CC President at the same time using same shoes as I have. He had no problems.
My bottom spring was loose & flopping around and the shoes would not come out far enough to work with the drums. I looked at past posts here and saw that there were different shoes for self adjusting brakes & manual adjusting brakes. My cart being a 99 should have the self adjusting brakes, but it has the manual adjust brakes. I put the old shoes back on 1 side and they adjusted correctly.
Is it possible to have self adjusting brakes on a 99 cart?

I just rebuilt a 2001 6 seater Villager with manual adjust brakes, so it is possible.

Went up and got the correct shoes from local cart dealer. He said he sees newer carts with older rear ends. Not ofter but they are out there. Now have great brakes
