Upgrade EZGO fleet car to 48V?
I am thinking of upgrading my ezgo to 48V. Looking for more power to climb the hill I have. I don't need more speed. Will the 48V do the trick. I think I have a ezgo 97 fleet car. If I add the two extra 6 volt batteries do I only need to upgrade the selenoid or does the controller need to be upgraded as well?

Re: Upgrade EZGO fleet car to 48V?
My '97 Series/Fleet 48v conversion climbs hills easily. You would need 2 more 6v GC batteries, 48v solenoid, 48v 400amp controller, 4g welding cables, and a way to charge 48v.
I can show you a way to retain your old solenoid and only spend $50 on a 12v Automotive charger, but the other items are a must. |

Re: Upgrade EZGO fleet car to 48V?
Where do I get the 48V selenoid & controller since the ezgo standard are all 36V?

Re: Upgrade EZGO fleet car to 48V?
Keep the activation coil on 36 volts. The contacts should hanlde 48 volts just fine, it's the 36 volt activation coil that does not like 48 volts.

48 volt solenoids are fairly inexpensive.... I would simply replace it.

Re: Upgrade EZGO fleet car to 48V?
I want to replace my 36V with a 48V solenoid, and I'm also replacing the controler with ~700A unit (eventually planning to move to 72V). I have visited the sponsors web sites, but they are not making this easy, and it should be.
Given the Curtis 1204 controler and solenoid I have/show below, what would be good 48-72v replacement parts, something I can maybe order online? Part numbers and links would be appreciated... |
