charging usbatteries with rxv factory charger?
I have been having so many issues / problems with 12 volt trojan batteries over the last 2 years, i am now using 12 volt USBatteries.
The 12 volt trojans have been failing on my rxvs, precedents and also yamaha carts. I have 3 rxvs right now, all with trojan 12 volt batteries between 21 months and 23 months old.. 3 different owners of carts. Besides 12 volt trojans, the other common denominator, is all are using those crappy factory " toaster" ( light weight) chargers. Since i am going to USBatteries, is the factory toaster charger, set up ( algorithium) for USBatteries, trojans, what? Besides buying new DPI chargers, i want to know about the factory chargers, such as : what battery are they set up for? Will they charge USBatteries ok? etc, Please help!! Thanks |

Re: charging usbatteries with rxv factory charger?
I have a 2011 RXV with four year old US Batteries. I used the factory charger until three months ago. I've been using a DPI gen IV charger since then. I didn't have any problem using the factory charger and haven't noticed any difference with the DPI. After four years use I can play 36 holes before going below 50% on the factory SOC meter.

Re: charging usbatteries with rxv factory charger?
I found the US Batteries to be consistently undercharged with the factory "toaster" charger on my RXV. I determined this from post charge voltages and specific gravity readings. The factory charger would get my batts to 90-95% SOC and I just lived with it for 4 1/2 years. I then bought a DPI. I have since changed out the US Batteries and replaced with the Trojans. Since it is a new pack I can't comment on the Trojans. US Batteries were fine until they weren't fine and I attribute that to the factory charger over time. I got 7 years out of a pack of Trojans on a previous cart so I went home to the Trojans. My cart guy said he could order anything I wanted but his recommendation was with the Trojan T-1275's. He was not personally wild about the US Batts but didn't say why. Perhaps better margins on the Trojans, perhaps better luck with them. I didn't ask.
