My question would be, would the motor mate up to the differential?

So sorry to hear about the damage to your cart. I understand that your first priority is to get it running. When you're finished with that project there are other things to consider before you do any serious riding.
Consider the condition of the axle. That salt water carried sand and other debris with it. The brake hubs are not water proof. If it were me, I'd pull the brake hubs and clean them, clean the brake shoes and lubricate the slides. Then, pull the axle and clean it. Drain and refill the transaxle fluid.
Replace the brake cable.
Repack the front wheel bearings if they are not sealed bearings. Soaking in salt water will destroy those bearings before long.
Replace the shock.
Also, there are several fittings on the front suspension that need to be checked and lubed. And, lubricate all other parts per the service manual.
This may be overkill but it's what I would do to be sure that nasty water doesn't continue to do damage and lead to costly future repairs. If I am wrong about any of this, I know the experts will speak up and give you better advice.

Thanks, CCNorth.. Already ordered new shocks since we have the body off, and these were probably originals.. My neighbor is real handy with working on Gators (just rebuilt the rear end completely), and other things. He has all the above mentioned in replacing, reworking.... I currently am in process of sanding all the iron parts that have gathered rust over the years and we are almost ready to paint those parts... Yesterday, I was using a wire wheel on my 12 volt Milwaukee drill on some small parts and the wire wheel grabbed and then jumped. It got past my glove and chewed up about three inches of skin on my arm...ouch!!

Thank you for the reminders......
