Default Rebuild or Scrap 1995 ClubCar

A good friend of mine recently gave me a 95 CC that he had no use for. My original, intent was to put a lift kit on it and take out to my land where I hunt deer. My wife, (who is a better shot than me), and myself are getting older, and we need a quit way to get back and forth to the stand. The batteries are shot, and need replaced, unfortunately there is quite a bit of corrosion on the battery racks and parts will need to replaced/reinforced. This is not a problem for me as I am am an amateur Blacksmith and good at metal work. It comes down to simple economics I guess, in that by the time I replace the batteries, a charger, the rear brakes, cables, battery holder rods etc. , put a lift kit in it, buy some new tires, and possibly replace wiring, the solenoid? and maybe the potentiometer, I am looking at around 2200-2300 bucks?

So given the costs versus just maybe buying a cart that already works, should I repair/restore this thing or just consign it to the scrap dealer? Any opinions are welcome.

After doing all of that it would sell for twice (around here) what you have in it.

Nor will you find anything like that in that price range.

Out here (San Diego) that frame alone is worth $500...... I wouldn't scrap it.

If the frame is straight/in good shape and you don't mind working on it, I'd say build it the way you want. Carts are tough to find currently, so (to me) having one that you can work with and build to your liking has a lot of value. I've been down this road and have no regrets.

BTW-Welcome to the page!!

I am just finishing my first build from an 80's chassis. I would build it all over again.

Post more pics. how are the seats and the rest of the body? '95 is an oddball year, it's a 36v? Without a doubt keep it.

Thank you for the help guys. I guess I will keep and rebuild it. I found today that none of the cart parts dealers in my area have any parts for such an older cart. 1 left to check with when they open on Monday. So it looks like parts will have to be ordered online...Suggestions as to who I should deal with?

Here are some more pics of what I am dealing with. This is a 48 volt car. The seat is in ok condition, it was stored in the shade under cover, and I plan to repaint in green/camo? The battery tray is heavily corroded in several places, so I am wondering whether to brace up the inside with new angle, or cut the old ones out and rivet new ones in place. I dont have any TIG welders available. I am looking forward to your suggestions and help.

I agree Build It.
On the battery tray I have braced a few. I think you can get a better job if you cut the bad angel and replace. I have no way to weld aluminum so I use pop rivers. The ones I have done are hold up.
Look at the site sponsors Revolution or Carts Unlimited for your parts you will not find any better customer service. They will also help with any questions you may have.

Judging by the v Glide it is an early 1995. What is the serial number? Does it have the controller?
