Default 1996 TXT Rear Differential

Hello all,

I just picked up a 1996 TXT in rough shape and I plan on restoring it. It appears to have a new Alltrax controller and the motor is intact, but the rear differential is open and rusty. The previous owner told me it needed to be replaced.

Does anyone know where the best place to buy a new rear end for the cart is? Either used or new. I found one on Amazon for roughly $1000 and I’m debating buying it if there aren’t any alternatives.

Maybe a rebuild kit?

Thanks for your help!

Try calling some local cart stores, they might have a used one or a donor cart.

I called my local EZGO dealer and they said they can’t find any replacement axles in their system to order. They are looking into it for me to see if a replacement number has been made they don't know about.

Does anyone know if there is another brand axle that will work on the EZGO TXT (Club car, Yamaha, etc.)?

It is likely a Dana differential so as long as the housing and axle tubes are in good condition then you could probably rebuild it with replacement parts. Axles, hubs, main carrier and gears are all available on Ebay. Might also try some of the Facebook forums, EZGO owners group, Electric golf cart hacks, Golf cart repair talk trade or sales or Golf carts modified.

Where are you located? I have one available in the Houston area. shipping would be costly.

It seems like this should be a fairly easy item to find used.
There are lots of parts carts behind every cart barn or shop.
Heck we have sent units with Differentials to the scrap yard in the past

That’s what I’ve been hoping for, but haven’t found yet. The EZGO dealer’s parts and repair department said he just scrapped 2 carts because they had bad rear ends. I just bought it so I’m not scrapping it yet. Prices and demand are sky high in this region right now so everything is hard to find local.

I believe it is part number 13 in this detail that is broken.

#13 looks like the intermediate gear. You can buy replacement gear sets on Ebay and I think any dealer should be able to help you out if that's all you need.
