The smallest riv nut for plastic is only available down to a #10 which is way too big for the ezgo front cowl. A jack nut is available down to #6 which is perfect. http://www.mcmaster.com/#jack-nuts/=kndrva |

Re: Can I install the front Cowl WITHOUT rivets
Sportcoupe, see my post a few pages back. This is resolved and I have pulled my front cowl off and reinstalled it a few times. It is GREAT being able to simply unbolt, unscrew and remove the front cowl, then put it right back on whenever I want. I have adjusted my radio bracket, rewired my cart and even had to repaint the front cowl since doing the NO RIVET solution and it works great. I would'nt go back to rivets if you paid me.

Re: Can I install the front Cowl WITHOUT rivets
It is just the clip on style screw mounts. You can get them at an automotive store in a blister pack. I hoard hardware so I had them in my junk box of parts. I did have to open them up a bit to fit the thicker plactic. I also keep them from sliding/falling off with some duct foil tape. Then for the part with the screw it is other plastic pop-in pieces that I cut off the backs of with a razor knife making them essentially beveled plastic washers. Finally some nice black screws through those washers into the clips and your done. It takes about 5-10 minutes to make them up and clip them onto the plastic. For the bottom rivets I used long machine thread pan head bolts with nuts and washers. They get covered by the plastic panel anyway. I have NO rivets holding the front part on and very few holding the rear on as well.
