4 12v batteries or 6 8v?
I currently have 4 12 volt batteries which need replacing and was wondering the benefit of going with 6 8 volt instead. Also, what type of expense is associated with the conversion. I have a 2006 precedent.

Re: 4 12v batteries or 6 8v?
There is quite a cost involved I gather, as just for the new battery tray some have said its upwards of $300. But in the end I think it would be worth it as everyone says there is a big difference in run time of the cart. I have an 04 Precedent and when my current batteries go I am going to convert to the 6 8v. I will let an expert chime in on the specifics of what is better/worse, cost, etc..

Re: 4 12v batteries or 6 8v?
Benefits: Cart will run for longer periods with more sustained power.
Cost: If you have room for two more batteries, then the only cost is for two more jumper cables. Negligible. If you don't have room, then whatever it takes to make room. Cons: If you run 12 volt accessories off a single battery in your current setup, you will need to buy a converter. |

Re: 4 12v batteries or 6 8v?
I did the upgrade to my 06 Precedent about a year ago. I used the CC factory kit that includes a new OBC. The install was not difficult to do if you are mechanically inclined. If I remember correctly the cost was around $400. There is a marked improvement in run time and performance with the 6-8 volt setup. It was one of the best upgrades that I have done to my cart, well worth the money IMHO. I don't know about battery prices where you live but the cost of the 8 volt batteries were less than replacing the 12 volts.
