Spring bolts
I know most of the post are not body related, but I have a question on the bolt that holds the rear spring in the front in place. I changed my springs, and the front bolt has a good bit of play when the nut is tight. So I'm trying to find out how much slack there should be, if any in the bolt. I started to tack weld the bolt, but though I had better check with the experts.
Thanks all |

Re: Spring bolts
If the bolt was loose,it probably egged the hole a bit.It should fit without any slop. You can weld a correct-sized washer to the bracket,or build up the hole in the bracket with weld, and resize it with a die-grinder.Hope this helps.

Re: Spring bolts

Re: Spring bolts
If you weld the nut and bolt, you risk melting the bushing.Weld washers to the shackle,or weld up the holes and repair them.

Re: Spring bolts
Not likely to drill, you'll probably need a die-grinder.Weld is hard and rough, usually ruins drill bits.

Re: Spring bolts
An air or electric high-speed tool, kinda like a straight-drill.You put Carbide bits in it.The Carbide-Cutters will let you slowly grind away the weld, until you get a proper fit.
