Re: upgrade to more speed/ best bang for $$
Yes, 4 gauge is a good size in my opinion, and I agree if your driving conditions leads to hot wires, then you should upgrade the size.
Adhesive lined heat shrink tube is the best way to keep corrosion off the wires. |

Shopping for at a decent crimper
*** cable, crimper & lugs, heat-shrink if I can get for less than $150 might give it a go looking at this crimper : https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MVE48Z6...=I4AAGFDJRYJ47 This cable: 30' of RED & 30' of BLACK https://www.amazon.com/TEMCo-WC0189-...g%2Bcable&th=1 Get some heat shrink & lugs, good to go :-) |

Check welding cable at Tractor Supply, better cable than that. I solder my ends on.

Check out Carts Unlimited website he has complete packages for all different types of carts. He is in Southern Cal. Not sure if he has a physical store or online only, but if you are gonna be in Palm Springs you might be in the area.

Scotty on Vac . His post: But I have a Series motor. Heard someone in the PS area re-winds them. Will look into it. Also looking for a 36 V motor, have read that it's a quick , easy way to upgrade speed. Found an old 375 amp controller, not sure brand , cart it's off of, or if it's compatible . Another thing to check on. Not sure if or how upping the controller amps gets you more speed. More torque , but speed ? Not sure how all that works yet. Things to Learn. |

Go to my website and click on the lifesaver.
Increasing speed in a 48v series cart requires gears or high rpm motor. High speed gears or motor require bigger controller, solenoid, 2g cables. (typically) These are not speed vehicles by nature. Good batteries are a MUST. |
