Solenoid Advice
Thanks in advance this site has already helped me greatly. I currently have a stock 96 EZ GO Series 36v cart. My solenoid went out over the weekend and I am wanting to install a new one. Here is my issue. I plan on upgrading my motor, controller, f/r swith, cables, etc. I am saving up the $1000+ to do this but in the mean time I need the cart running. My question is can I go ahead and use a larger solenoid now with everything else being stock. Also if so do I need to change out the resistor and diode also and if so with what size. There seem to be endless choices so I am open to any ideas. I will probably be doing a 400 or 500 amp alltrax and plum quick motor if that helps at all.

Re: Solenoid Advice
Welcome to BGW!
You may install an HD solenoid at this time without changing anything else. Solenoids are voltage specific, as well as the diodes and resistors used on them. |

Re: Solenoid Advice
You can get a 36v HD solenoid now and it will be there when you do the upgrade.
If you are planning to go to 48v in your upgrade you can reuse the 36v solenoid by short wiring it to 36v-40v on your battery pack. |

Re: Solenoid Advice
what everyone said. get a 36v hd solenoid, and when you upgrade you just apply 36v across the two small activation terminals. the big terminals can handle 48v. have been running mine for 18 months with no probs.
