Default Battery Life Saver

I went on a 28 mile ride with my cart. Batteries showed 50 % use of power when I got back home.

I installed a BLS 42-B and cleaned all batteries connections with a wire brush and coated them all with Dielectric Grease before reconnecting them.

I then went on the same 28 mile ride. Batteries showed 30 % use of power when I got back home.

I wish I had done three trips adding one between the BLS and the cable cleaning. One or both of them together sure did some good.

electronic desulfators aren't a overnight fix. dielectric grease doesn't promote conduction. my guess would be a crusty cable or two.

I agree, it could take up to a month of use before you would notice a difference with the desulfator.

I guess I should have added that mine has been on the batteries for 3 weeks now.

How is this determined?

He has a Curtis LED state of charge meter.
I had a 42v Western with the Curtis 906 SOC meter and they are pretty accurate.
With a 100% reading and a starting voltage of 44.5v which is standard for a 42v cart his final voltage at 50% would have been 41.9v and 42.6v.
Each LED bar on the Curtis 906 meter is equal to 7% of charge so there is a spread, not an actual voltage reading.
The Villager's cart is a sepex cart so it is more efficient than a series cart. Sepex carts with 8x6v have been known to go 50 miles.
They did a test on one in The Villages in FL and it went 80+ miles.

Im just learning this cart stuff so I may be wrong in my estamates. I did have some crusty cable ends. On both of the 28 miles rides, (4 weeks apart) i used a digital voltmeter after allowing the batteries to rest for about an hour. After the last 28 mile run, tested between 6 of the 7 batteries, useing the same 6 of 7 batteries that the curtis meter is hooked to. I do that at different mileages to get a good feel on just what condition my state of charge is when compaired with the meter and a digital volt meter directly from the batteries. On this last trip, the digital meter read 37.1 volt on 6 batteries. I then compared that to a state of charge chart from the Trojan battery web site. I bought the BLS from Tampa florida, they have a web site or you can get them from ebay. Either way they cost 139.00 for most, but I had to pay 149.00 because I live in florida. Tax don't ya know.
