Re: Ezgo won't move forward
I auctually hooked the main power wire to the motor up to the f n r by accident and it took off forward when I switched it to reverse I have thought about changing the motor but not sure it will fit the motor on the old cart is bigger and a different rear end

Re: Ezgo won't move forward
Yeah that's a nice touch had to use some of the old parts for now when I get it straightned out I'll make some new cables

Re: Ezgo won't move forward
Could I have fried the forward side of the motor when I accidentally joked it up to the f n r and gave it full power

Re: Ezgo won't move forward
There isn't any forward and reverse side to the motor. The same stuff is used in both directions.
Which way the motor shaft spins (CW or CCW) is determined by the relative direction of current between the armature and stator windings. That is switched by the F/R switch, so if it is going forward when the direction lever is in reverse, a couple of cables on the motor or the F/R switch need to be switched. If the cart runs in one direction, but not the other, the problem is in the F/R switch assemble. |

Re: Ezgo won't move forward
I had gotten a little ahead of my self when I was putting everything back in and hooked the motor straight to the f n r. What I don't understand is there is power going through the resistors because they are getting hot but the cart won't move in forward it will go fine in reverse. If the resistors are getting hot power is going through them and to the power cable but not engaging the motor

Re: Ezgo won't move forward
Here are a couple wiring diagrams for a resistor cart with the high current loop highlighted.
The first shows the F/R in F and the second show the F/R in R. Without your cart in front of me, I cannot tell you why the resistors are getting hot and the motor isn't turning, but if you connect the cables to the F/R switch as shown, the motor will spin in in both directions, or the F/R switch contacts are not making contact in one of the two directions, or MS-2 is maladjusted and the solenoid doesn't activate in both directions. |
