Default Did I fry my lights?

Ok, I bought a 2007 EZGO TXT Series cart that needed new batteries. It has headlights and tail lights wired to 2 of the batteries. I installed the new batteries and hooked the positive to the post where the positive for the cart is and I wasnt thinking and hooked the negative to the negative post for the cart. Instead of hooking it up to 12V I hooked it to 36V. My son flipped on the lights and they flickered and then the headlights went out and only the passenger side tail light still lights up. I moved the ground to the next battery in the series giving them 12V but I still just have the passenger side tail light. Are the lights fried? Are the bulbs fried? What should my next move be (aside from installing a converter)?

Thanks for the welcome and reply. Thats what I figured. The wires are all fine as far as I can tell. I visually inspected them and they look good. Thanks again.

Thats the weird thing...there is a fuse in line. I popped out the tail light that went out and it is LED. When I popped off the cover I saw where it burned out the little diode or resistor and it smelled burnt. Now to find replacement lights. I dont really want to buy the whole kit. Lesson learned.

They are similar. Mine only have 1 row of LEDs instead of 2.
