Default 2005 Precedent IQ Going Into Limp Mode At Full Throttle

First off, let me say I have gotten a lot of good insight to the world of cart diagnosing form this site. I have been pouring over the net for an answer to a question I could not find. I maintain a small fleet of club car carts of various years for a little rental business and I have 4 2005 Precedent Professional PQ0535-xxxxx carts exhibiting the same exact symptoms. The carts are completely stock with the 4x12v battery setup.

The carts all start out with a burst of speed until I apply full throttle, then they slow down and go into limp mode until I reset the tow/run switch. If I apply only 1/2 to 3/4 throttle this does not happen. There is no regen and no roll away beeping or braking at all.

The carts had been in storage over the winter (after a summer of flawless operation) with the tow/run switches in the "tow" position. They were all put on chargers and fully topped off before these symptoms appeared.

I don't want to start replacing speed sensors or mcors because four carts exhibiting the same problem is more than a coincidence. Times like this I wish I had a IQDM scanner. Any insights or methods of testing these things with a multimeter would be greatly appreciated.

. . . do any of the other CCs you maintain have similar motors where you could swap out a speed sensor for testing purposes?

Tahoe, knowing that you're a club car mechanic, I will trust your diagnosis. Have you run into this phenomenon before with numerous carts failing from the same condition all at once? It seems like they all had the same expiration date or something. I'll check back in after I install a new sensor in one of them.

Steve-I could swap one off another 05 IQ and see.
Sunoco- I was thinking along that line, too.

Thanks for the info.

Well boys, TahoeDawg was right on, as were the rest of you that suggested it was the speed sensor. I bought one and tried it on the 6 carts that were in limp mode and they all kicked it up to 20+mph. $420 worth of sensors, yes please and thank you. I still am flabbergasted that 6 carts would all fail from the same thing at the same time. Thanks for your assistance and rest assured I'll be calling on you again at some point.
