I wonder how long a full light kit designed for 12 volts would last if hooked up to say 16 volts?

Not recommended.. That's a 30% increase in voltage.

Now that said it could be wired series for 24 volts.

Yes...it is a 2001 DS.

I have attached some more pictures of where the wires are going to from the battery. In first picture I traced the Red from the battery to something that could be the reducer? The other red wire goes to the charger plug

Their is another red wire on the other side of the battery set that goes to the fuse box I showed in a previous post.

So is that little box marked 'SOL 3400' the reducer?

If not then I don't know where else to look. I've been all under the bottom of the cart.

Thanks

Gary

On the wire that comes from the fuse box, that is probably the + in the 12 volt circuit. Now go to the - of that battery to the + of the next one. Now on the - of that battery should be wire about the same gauge as the red. Trace that.

OK....finally found the voltage reducer and found a 12V feed to power my adapter. Thanks for all the help. Great forum.

Thanks

Appears my 96 DS has been hooked up this way all along with no issues with the lighting system.

Lead from battery #2 positive terminal - voltage is 17.8v on a full charge (8.88 x 2)
