Really not a fan for split lock washers in any electrical connection at all... Can't tell you how many times in doing maintenance on electrical panel boards have I found loose connections due to split lock washers having broke into 2 pieces....

Wow, even stainless lock washers? I have found multiple posts on here stating the benefits of split lock washers in keeping the cables from coming loose at the terminal and shorting something out

It is simply my preference due to history to not use any type of split locks in any type of electrical connection; softer stainless and/or brass is less likely to fail and might work just fine for everyone else... I will and do use Internal-Tooth Lock Washers though...

They come from the factory with split washers, I never had issues with using them although I prefer aircraft lock nuts, not convenient on a cart battery though.

Please don't take this the wrong way but I don't care how many people here like Pumpkin Pie as I simply can't stand the taste of it....

Same applies to my dislike of split lock washers in electrical connections; this is simply due to 30 years as a ships engineer I've seen them fail and cause further problem.

To which I'll further state this they were not in use on my batteries and in looking at my CC parts manual they are most certinly NOT listed in the parts diagram for the battery connections. Only place I'm sure I saw them in use was on the solenoid; those were replaced with internal-tooth SS as I keep them on hand for working on my motorcycle....

My new Crown batteries came with a captive external-tooth lock washer and that suits me just as well as internal-tooth lock washers as neither are split and hence less prone to breakage.

Yes I'm a little bit anal but I've got good reason for it; my reasons....

Humm, my new Trojans came with nuts and no washers. That's the way I installed them. No loose cables so far.

. . . there are a variety of fasteners for a variety of applications . . one can always use a "deformed thread" lock nut also . . .

If you bend the bolt that's called an Indiana lock washer.
