*1991 Marathon Speed Controller EZGO

Hey
First time trying to post a thread. Bought an old buggy. Rusted, no batteries, brakes seuzed. Did a little work, put in new batteries. Sometimes it would run, sometimes it would not. Resistor across solenoid hot all the time. Last time it ran there was a high pitch squeal from controller. Determined that capacitors in controller were shorted speed controller was shot. Bought small diamond wheel from hardware store and cut molded seal outcof speed controller. Pulled electronic boards out of controller. Found controller had electrolyte inside from blown capacitors. Removed 4 capacitors and 12 mosfets from controller. Bought replacements from digitek for 56 canadian Tomorrow will put new parts back into controller. Hooefully this spring my buggy will be running like new. Will keep you posted on how it turns out.

Good luck with your rebuild you sound like a good problem solver.
You can buy a much better upgraded speed control off of ebay for 189.00 programed to your specifications, and reprogram later if need be ,or there's many other more expensive controls available.
I understand the importance of repair over replace but most rebuilt controls fail in another area shortly.

Hey Seaquell
I am gairly new to this game. Bought buggy for my wife to drive around yard. She does all the landscaping. Got a good deal on new batteries and charger on kijiji. Hope controller works out.Parts are very cheap.Decided to change all the mosfets because I tead that after time thry will only be kicking out 200 amps and not 300 amps. Easy to change once it is apart. It better work, my wife has mentioned numerous times that all we hot was three or four laps of the yard . Since then its been parked. Time will tell. Not much else in the controller to replace.
