Relocating Run/Tow Switch
I am locking down the seat on my '07 TXT PDS and unlocking will be a bit pain for me and hopefully more so for a thief. Having to access the run/tow switch will be a bit of a pain so I am thinking about relocating it. I did a search and found little info on this. Looking at the wiring diagram looks like 4 wires. To me it looks like a simple job to extend the wires to a new location on or near the dash. I am guessing the switch is not accessible while the cart is in motion for a reason. Can the cart be damaged by accidental actuation while in motion?
I am thinking about just mounting it on the dash with a flip up cover. With cover up and switch up it would be in tow. Switch down, cover down it is in run and cannot be bumped to tow. Any thoughts or ideas here would be appreciated. Rick |

Re: Relocating Run/Tow Switch
Flipping the Run/Tow switch to Tow while regen braking is occurring might overvolt the controller since the solenoid would drop out and the regen voltage being generated by the motor no longer be being dampened by charging the battery pack will spike.
The pre-charge resistor suppresses the spike a bit, but to be on the safe side add a 6A diode in parallel with the resistor across the solenoid's big terminals with the banded end facing the battery side big terminal. The flip cover switch is still a good idea even with the diode added. FWIW: I suspect the main reason that EZGO located the switch were they did was to save a few feet of wire. |

Re: Relocating Run/Tow Switch
I mounted my tow run switch on the dash since it will be towed quite often during cropping season and not always by me. Thinking of putting a warning label on the pole/tongue too as a reminder.

Re: Relocating Run/Tow Switch
Sorry no. When I bought my controller, [1268] the company also made me the complete whip. Just had to specify where I wanted the switches. [For 70 clams for the complete harness and switches tested and guaranteed it was a no brainer.]

Re: Relocating Run/Tow Switch
Use the same size or one size bigger wire as what's there.
