Heavy Duty F/R switch options
Hi Guys,
Lots of great info and great contributors on this forum! I have a question concerning Heavy Duty F/R switch options. Vitals: 2001 DS with 6" Arm lift and 22" tires. High torque motor upgrade. 700amp controller. HD solinode. HD F/R switch. 2 gauge cables. I would like to replace the F/R switch with something more HD. I have the one you get in the BU torque kit and don't have allot of faith in it. It seems to be developing some play in the contacts. No arcing yet that I can see, but I assume it is a part that wares out over time and use. Are there multiple options for replacement HD switches out there? I thought I remember seeing a picture someone posted of their 2 gauge cable upgrade project and I remember noticing a different switch from what I've seen before. It did not seem to have the 2 gauge cables bolted to any moving parts, unlike mine where the cables actually rotate with the switch mechanism. Anyone ever see one like that before? Are there multiple options for HD switches out there? Thanks! |

Welcome.......
I never liked the CC F&R .... ALways moving the wires with little 10mm bolts in em Use the Ezgo model and follow the HD rebuild as posted by PGGroves on this site....Looks like a much better set up.... |

You nailed it on the head man!
It's definitely the weak link in the high current circuit as far as I'm concerned. I will look into your suggestion. Thanks! |

Re: Heavy Duty F/R switch options
If you really want to upgrade the F/R go with one of the console shifters which are out there (after market).
I'v seen 2 and both look Sturdy and great on the carts. Has anyone out here used one ? |

Re: Heavy Duty F/R switch options
I've seen those shifter consoles on ebay. I think a guy in Myrtle Beach makes them. Looks like a little stickshift where the f/r switch is normally. I think he makes them for both the club car and ezgo.
