Well guys finally pulled the trigger on the 6:1 gears and what a difference!!
Cart new top speed has hit 45mph multiple times. As far as what I call it, she runs a constant steady 43-44 mph and that’s at full charge and lately an ambient temp of around 40 deg F. I am expecting at least that maybe a lil better as ambient temps increase!

Yep, 45mph carts are sketchy....and not for everyone. Even 35 on a lifted cart gets funny.

I'll go further out on the limb and say 'not for anyone'.
You got a cart designed for 14-19 mph going nearly 3 times the designed speed. The design is not adequate for these speeds. It will be unstable at best and forget stopping in a safe distance. And likely the tires are not rated for this speed either. A tire failure could be fatal as there is no crash protection.

He’ll be fine as long as a huge weighted sled doesn’t crash into him

For a 19.0" tire height I get 7263 RPM at 33 MPH and 7483 at 34 MPH, which I rounded up to 7300 and 7500. (BTW: I use 3.14159265358979 for pi)

Here is a good thread on gear swaps: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...xperiment.html

Terry started with a PDS cart rather than a series drive, but the principles are the same except for motor type.
Terry and I traded gear sets back then, he got a 6 to 1 set and I got his used 8 to 1 set, my ezgo pds cart back then ran 52 mph. 600a Alltrax, 48v, pq red motor

I'm going to stick with 12.44:1 gears, 17" tall tires and a 6500RPM max, for 26 MPH.
