Get a golf cart, it'll be fun they said....

After charging:
pack voltage 52.83v
key on pack voltage 52.77v

Battery voltages key off:
1 8.78v
2 8.79v
3 8.81v
4 8.78v
5 8.79v
6 8.78v

Battery voltages at stall on hill:
1 7.71v
2 7.70v
3 7.71v
4 7.72v
5 7.73v
6 7.72v

Pack voltage at stall: 45.7v
pack voltage at rest after stall: 50.10v

So I figured I'd pull the cover off and inspect the brushes. After pulling the motor off (the shock wouldn't let the long bolts come out...) looking at the brushes and inside of the motor doesn't look awful. I've seen worse.

The brushes looked like they had plenty of material left and the springs were in good shape. They are all worn evenly. I am going to check around locally and see if I can find a shop to clean up the armature and put in new brushes while I have it apart.

Sooo.... Anybody wanna test a Alltrax AXE controller for me?

So a quick call to Alltrax customer service says... bad controller. They could test it but the tell tale sign is the lack of lit LED. Why it still works is with the throttle is unknown.

Time to start collecting cans and working the street corner. Sooooo.... Scotty ol' buddy ol pal ol' friend....

What do you mean by STALL.? Do you mean that, you have your foot on the go pedal and the cart is stalled on the hill not moving when you got them readings?

Yep. Cart starts up hill, stops moving, with accelerator all the way down, no forward movement. That's how I checked it.

That's the best way to destroy your motor.

I only did it long enough to check the voltages. The controller wasn't putting out enough to really do much. But you're right working against an immovable object is not good.

I ordered a new Alltrax SR48500. Installed as per the directions. Double checked the wiring before attempting to move. Key on, step on pedal.... no go. Let off pedal, cart takes of like a bat of he.... Ok sounds like wrong throttle position sensor setting. Double checked setting. Yep set for Yamaha 0-1K throttle. Check throttle position sensor with meter, no throttle is close to 0, full throttle is close to 1k. Use the monitor function on the Alltrax controller software, throttle sensor is all over. Press very little and it jumps to 100%. Full press equals 0%. Not even close to what its supposed to be doing. WTF???

So can the throttle sensor test good with a multimeter but be bad with controller? I even changed the wire ends thinking that might cause a difference. Originally this cart had an AXE controller and the blue throttle wire was not connected. The SR wiring diagram says to attach blue wire to B-. I did that, tried it disconnected, no change.

This carts new name is Money Pit. Almost ever piece has been cleaned, painted, powdercoated, replaced....

I heard of on other 0-1k setting that was 'backwards' Alltrax replaced that controller. IDK, maybe the controller is bad if you can verify the throttle signal is 0-1k or close to it.

When I went through all kinds of checks before these were the readings:
Green to white wire resistance at rest 116 ohms
Green to white wire resistance at full throttle 1.08K ohms

I guess I'll have to call Alltrax Monday. Thanks for the info.
