Default Medalist Solenoid Issue (possibly Burnt capacitor)

I have a 1996 EZ GO Medalist that was running fine for a few hours but needed new batteries and a new charger. I replaced the batteries and charger and charged the cart. When placed in Drive, the cart will no longer move and I don't hear the solenoid click any more. After inspecting, I found this wire attached to the solenoid that has no continuity, possibly due to the burnt capacitor. Has anyone else had this issue and if so, what was your solution? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

No capacitors in that picture. What's burned?

I was under the impression that was an in-line capacitor or resistor. There's no continuity from end to end, so I'm assuming one of those is the problem. I need to know if they can be bypassed or what I need to replace it with.

After doing some research, I've found that this is the wire that connects the two large terminals of the solenoid. Does anyone know if there should be continuity from end to end?

The kluge in the picture appears to be a home brewed version of the resistor/diode assembly used on the solenoid of a DCS drive, which is shown in the picture I've attached.

The resistor is 250Ω, so the continuity function of your meter may beep and the diodes are polorized so they would be open in one direction and low ohms in the other.

In any case, the kluge is not needed for the cart to run.

If your cart has a Run/Tow switch on the controller cover, it has a DCS drive and there is a schematic for a DCS attached.

Thanks for the response. After troubleshooting the solenoid, I've determined the problem is somewhere else in the electrical system. I will check the micro switch on the pedal today. I'm wondering if after replacing and charging the new batteries the old micro switch possibly burned out.

The controller may have gone belly up.

The Curtis 1206SX (DCS) controller was EZGO's first attempted at a sepex drive and it was a poor design, lacking under-voltage protection, and fails often.

If it is bad, don't waste money on another 1206SX, get an Alltrax XCT48300-DCS or larger.

I believe you were right. I've used the wiring diagram and determined I have proper voltage all the way into the controller. I'm not getting correct voltage coming out of the controller and that would explain why I have incorrect voltage on controller side of solenoid, foot pedal and ignition. There's also a faint burnt smell from the controller box. I appreciate your help!
