Re: 93 Club Car Battery Discharge
Keep half an eye on the temperature too. U don't want them to get much more than warm to the touch. Wait 1 hour after the charger is shut off to get a true reading. The readings you get during charging and right after are falsely elevated. Wait for the voltage to settle and then see what you have... Note that a 6 volt battery is empty at 6.05 volts. Good Luck

Re: 93 Club Car Battery Discharge
Latest on my project.... Charged each of the pairs till they showed about 5.5 amps going into them. Then hooked all together and am charging them with the big charger. Started off at 19 amps is now down to 15 amps.
Batteries are just a little warm to the touch but just barely. Will see what they look like in the morning. When I hooked the batteries up the cart tried to move. Tapped on the solenoid and the cart quit trying to move. I think that was the problem in the first place. Cart was trying to move but the kids had the parking brake on. With the cart trying to move and the charger connected recharging cause the batteries to drain? Also they were rather warm when I noticed what was happening to the cart. |

Re: 93 Club Car Battery Discharge
It will be interesting to see if they come up AND stay up ..... we need readings 1 hour after the charger shuts off...... if it does? It may not shut off if the pack never reaches a full charge... watch em

Re: 93 Club Car Battery Discharge
I assume this reading was taken after the charger was unplugged at least 15-30 Min ?
Was this charge reached with the 36 Volt Cart Charger, of charging them in sets of 2 ? Check the batteries again in 2 hours , How much have they dropped ? |

Re: 93 Club Car Battery Discharge
Those readings are good. All you can do is run them and see if they hold up. I've charged batteries back from total pack voltage of 3 volts and the cart ran for another year on those same batteries.

Re: 93 Club Car Battery Discharge
This was after the charger had been off for about 3 hours.

Re: 93 Club Car Battery Discharge
I took the cart out for a 10 minute ride at max speed with just me on the cart (230lbs).
Here are the readings after returning: #1: 6.395 Volts #2: 6.390 Volts #3: 6.409 Volts #4: 6.425 Volts #5: 6.395 Volts #6: 6.366 Volts Total: 38.45 Volts Plugged the cart into the 36v cart charger until it shutoff, not quite 2 hours. waited 2 hours and then took this reading: #1: 6.506 Volts #2: 6.497 Volts #3: 6.510 Volts #4: 6.530 Volts #5: 6.513 Volts #6: 6.483 Volts Total: 39.08 Volts How do these readings look? Should I do the epson salt recondition on the batteries or just stick with this? The batteries are about 20 months old. Looking to the sages for advice. |

Re: 93 Club Car Battery Discharge
The other reading you need to take is while the batteries are on charge. Take readings right before the charger shuts off, or after it has shut off, plug it back in, wait 10 minutes, then take readings while the charger is still on.
