Default Can I see your dash switch setups?

I’ve got my dash torn apart right now trying to figure out how and where I’m going to set up my panel. I plan to have six or so 12V switches, and if it’s not too much trouble I’ll have them all illuminated.

Your pictures would be a helpful inspiration.

Those of you with carts that are left outside, did you give any consideration to waterproof switches?

I haven't installed my setup yet, but I went with this, but in four. I'm also adding a speedo, batt gauge and a flux capacitor.

I bought the carbon fiber dash and the switch plate on eBay. The switch plate came with 6 toggle switches, a V gauge, a car charger port, and 2 USB charging ports. I had to cut out the section where the switch plate is mounted.

I didn't like the switches that came with the switch plate, so I replaced them with custom switches from Rocker Switch Pros. They light up when I turn the cart on and the oval indicator lights up when I turn the switch on.

BTW - Rocker Switch Pros makes EXCELLENT switches and I will be buying from them again.

I thought about going the new dash route, partially because the switch panel I want is taller than the existing Precedent dash below the steering wheel. Looks like you screwed that panel shut and put the cut out where the push button used to be?

I think there was a cut-out for a stereo, so I just made it larger for my switch panel and I epoxied nylon locking nuts on the backside so I would only need a screwdriver to remove/install the switch plate.

That looks good. How did you cut the aluminum and how thick is it?

I have used the Blue Sea WeatherDeck 12V DC Waterproof Fuse Panel - Gray 8 Positions #4308. These are illuminated, weatherproof, and also have integrated fuses for each switch.

You can also get them as illuminated, weatherproof switches only without the integrated fuses.

They are great quality and marine grade ... so you only have to do this once! I highly recommend them.

Thickness is .080 aluminum. I took a scrap piece down at the shop and put an 80° bend then moved an inch and added the other 10°, to match the contour of the plastic dash. Then just cut it on a band saw, filed and deburred until it fit the dash. Had it powder coated first then took it to a laser printer. He put a mask on the whole piece and then laser cut the lettering. I took it home, and with the mask still in place, painted the flat black lettering and then peeled off the mask. I made it sound simple but it took a while to get it right.

Definitely not a mass production unit.
