Aftermarket Battery level indicator install
Hey all, I have installed a aftermarket battery charge meter on my 2013 CC precedent. Every advertisement I have seen for this type of meter show that all meter lights are on when in use. I currently show only one green bar at the far right, my guess is showing it’s fully charged. My question is, has Anyone installed this meter on their golf cart and what does the display show. I have contacted the seller and they are of no help. They even sent me a new one in case this one was defective.

Might as well install a gas gauge too...it's just as effective.

Re: Aftermarket Battery level indicator install
Seriously though, those are the meters we take out and replace because they are unreliable and do not accurately depict the SOC (State of Charge) voltage.

Re: Aftermarket Battery level indicator install
Another vote against bar meters ... totally useless due to their inaccuracy. Many of us have removed bar meters for that reason.
Best to get a digital voltage meter and use the State of Charge chart to determine how much charge is in your battery. Here's an economical suggestion: https://www.cartsunlimited.net/battery-meters.html You can also install much fancier meters that cost a few hundred dollars. See: https://www.buggiesgonewild.com/show...=battery+meter Forget about getting the cheap, Amazon ones ... if you go that route, you might want to get 2 or 3 because they don't last too long. |

Re: Aftermarket Battery level indicator install
I have a question based on state of charge vs voltage.
The chart states 50.93V is 100% charge. Is that when stationary or under load? Where should the meter be connected to for it to read correctly? Wayne |

Quote:
As per the chart, after charging, it takes 12 to 24 hours for your battery voltage to stabilize. For example, 48 volt packs will charge at voltages up to 64 volts or so. When the charger turns off, that 64 volts quickly drops to about 55 volts and slowly (over 12 to 24 hours) continues to slowly drop until it stabilized. If you are wondering if you pack is stable, measure the pack voltage at 10 minute intervals ... once you get 3 voltages the same measured 10 minutes apart, you pack is pretty much stable. My battery pack is not stable at 12 hour after charging ... it pretty much takes the full 24 hours to stabilize. And 50.93 volts may not necessarily be your 100% charge voltage ... for example, my fully charged pack stabilizes at 52.00 volts. Battery brands and models may vary in their stabilized 100% charged voltage. You may be able to connect your meter to "+" and "-" wires in your dash that show the battery pack voltage ... compare the actual measure pack voltage to the voltage on the wires that you intend to use. If you don't have any wires with pack voltage, you may have to run dedicated wires to the battery pack or to your keys switch, fuse box, and / or bus bar. See some possible wiring options here: https://www.cartsunlimited.net/battery-meters.html |
