How to remote charge batteries
I often find that folks here in our community run their ezgos till they quit. What I am trying to find out is how I can get these carts home for them. Quick portable and cheap would be the ideal state. Thoughts?

a chain? Getting them to purchase an inexpensive volt meter and educating them would be better.

Re: How to remote charge batteries
That has always been one of the trade offs of an electric cart: you CAN'T just pour in another gallon of electricity to get it home. You can tow it, push it or set up small trailer with a battery pack you could jumper to their cart to "get it home" (expensive and dangerous). Remind them that every time they run it to dead like that they are probably taking months off the life of their $1000 battery pack.

Re: How to remote charge batteries
This is a local solution: https://www.gotowrescue.com/
This is viable because there are thousands of golf carts here and more than 100 miles of purpose built paved cart paths. The reality is, he only uses the tow cart when he can't get the trailer close enough to the stricken cart. The profit comes from annual subscriptions. I keep a ratchet strap in my cubby. Over 20 years I have towed a few people with dead carts I've come across while traversing the paths. Usually just far enough to get them to a more accessible place. Takes a willing participant, of course. If you charge for this, liability and other small business considerations come into play. |

Re: How to remote charge batteries
These are the ideas that had come to mind. I have a tow strap. The reality is in our little community of 1000+ golf carts this will always happen. Wanted to make sure there wasn’t some wizbang product I didn’t know about out there.

Re: How to remote charge batteries
How far would these carts need to travel to get them home? A small portable lithium pack comes to mind.
Cheers Pat. |
