I think I have had Sepex and Series backwards
So, in making my "list" of upgrades, I think I have gotten the Sepex and Series backwards.
Please correct me if I am wrong here, but.. if I hate the mechanical switch between my front passengers below the seat, that is a Series? I am not a fan of this, so want to get rid of it and install an electrical Sepex switch on the dashboard, correct? |

The rotational handle means you have a series cart.
If you're only complaint is the handle and you're wanting a toggle switch instead, then upgrade to a reversing contactor. I'd recommend the SW202 but if you have stock components (i.e. controller and motor), then the SW180 will be a few dollars less and suit your needs just fine. |

Switching to sepex is much more involved than just the switch. Different motor, controller, wiring harness etc. You can get rid of the lever switch on your series cart by installing a reversing contactor that utilizes a switch. Check with site sponsor Carts Unlimited or Revolution Golf Cars.

Re: I think I have had Sepex and Series backwards
Okay, I had the terminology backwards, but my parts list for upgrades is correct.. thanks lol.
I emailed Scotty my list to make sure I did not miss anything.. heh. The issue was the motor.. had to make sure I chose the right one. Instead of the Admiral MOT-B1, I would need the Admiral MOT-B4. Oh, this is the wish list.... have to make sure to order a little at a time so as to not make my wife kill me in my sleep.. however.. lol 1 – Alltrax SR48500 (about $100 more if I decide to go with the SR48600 ) 2 – Admiral MOT-B4 (sepex switching torque motor) 3 – SW202 – solenoid and switch for F/R 4 – A 2G cable set (would like color coded vs a solid black etc, helps quickly identify cables) 5 – MZJ400A Solenoid 6 – Fan for AllTrax Controller 7 – Veego Combo 12v reducer kit for accessories 8 – Batter meter (green) 9 – 3-hole trim kit for key etc 10 – FN Bluetooth module Thanks guys! Re: I think I have had Sepex and Series backwards
I am seeing a lot of listings for this setup, but with the 48500 not the 48600. Is the 48600 waste?
I also am not sure if I need the "PDS cable"? I am wondering if not many people with a 96-ish TXT convert it to a SEPEX setup with this stuff.. heh. Still looking around, I am sure I am not the only one that went or thought to go this route. R |

Re: I think I have had Sepex and Series backwards
If you are replacing all the components I would definitely switch to sepex. Different controller and motor but you drop the reversing contactor. You would also need a harness but could buy one that would make it an easier install. The benefits, more speed and less parts. Now if you are wanting to go slow and will be hauling a bunch of weight stay series.

Oh, yes.. I am not a fan of the mechanical switch. Since the cart is "gutted".... easier to install it the way I want it and just fill in the Series switch hole before I paint it.. heh

Re: I think I have had Sepex and Series backwards
The MOT B4 is a sepex motor and not compatible with the Alltrax SR which is a "series" controller.
#1 and #2 on your list. |

Re: I think I have had Sepex and Series backwards
Okay... got it.. so that was what I was not clear on. So, need to change the alltrax...
okay... lot of changes then.. grr.. thought I had been clear... so glad I asked here.. lol So... getting rid of that mechanical switch and going with the in-dash switch....on a 1996 TXT. Seems the 500 is the top end for the controller with Alltrax, that is fine. Still need the solenoid, the SW202 and the MZJ400a, I assume.... I tell ya, one day I will figure out the right combination lol yea.. back to the drawing board... sheesh.. thought I had it all laid out... heh. Well, researching and learning is fun, no biggie ;) Merry Christmas all! R |
