Solenoid questions
I need a new solenoid for my old RV. I have had a problem with them sticking on and I had to run outside to bash them with a hammer to get it to unstick.
I was wondering if a 36 volt golf cart solenoid will trip on and off with a 12V battery??? Have no idea why they stick in the ON position, but I have had issues with several of them. |

Re: Solenoid questions
I dont think 12v will be enough pull-in voltage for a 36v solenoid.

Re: Solenoid questions
I was wondering if 12 volts will activate the 36V solenoid, snap it on and off, I notice looking at some ads that some are called continuous duty, on all the time, and some only activate when the key is turned to start

Re: Solenoid questions
Get the model number off the solenoid and do a on-line search for the specs. The spec sheet should provide the info you are seeking.

Re: Solenoid questions
All solenoids used on golf carts need to be "continuous duty". The other ones would be "intermittent duty", like for cranking the starter on a car for 15 seconds or less per go.
Golf carts keep the solenoid on whenever the pedal is pressed, so continuous duty is required. |

Re: Solenoid questions
If you have been using intermittent duty units that would explain the frequency of failure
