therealciviczc,

In other words they don't know... but neither do I.

It will help if you let us know the Year, Model, etc. of your cart. The more information the easier it will be!

Hopefully someone else will come along that does know.

It looks like a 'potted' circuit, possibly containing a diode & possibly a resistor.

This is on a 1999 Club Car, 36v, DS (I believe). I tried my do hicky testing tool, and its not a do hicky. It may be a thing-a-ma jig, but if so, what does it do? It was a rental cart from a course. Is it necessary? Is it stock?

Thanks!

It's a "snubber". Works to prevent damage to the solenoid caused by voltage spikes.

IS THERE MORE THAN 2 WIRES ON THIS UNIT NOT SURE as picture is not that clear but looks like its 2? wires hooked across both large terminals, If so its probably a resistor that is needed for controller operation? I see NO SIGNS of DIODE mounted across SMALL SOLENOID TERMINALS, is it there?
Remember that anything can and will be installed on a older cart that has gone through many owners good and bad.
