Lookin for speed options...check this!!
first off i have a '04 ezgo txt series cart with 6" lift and 22" tires...id say it runs about 12mph right now...supposibly it has an upgraded motor with better torque, as it does climbs hills pretty good....but i want speeed
first question...whats the horsepower on this stock motor? if i get an upgraded motor, whether it is a plumquick, or the "admiral" which send the cart to about 20mph, whats the deal with a controller box? i believe it reccomended a 400amp? and just to get myself clear...for instance (not what i want to pay but for example) if i pay 500 for a motor, and 250 for the controller box will i be satisfied? thanks in advanced, jesse thornton |

What 400a 250.00 controller are we talking about ?
2 rules for series carts.... Amperage will give you torque. Voltage will give you speed. |

Jump to 48v or higher if you want speed. put the money in upgrading the controller, hd solenoid and hd fnr. the motor is the last thing you should do. but that is just my 2 cents. joe |

A higher amperage controller will not give a series cart speed. Only torque.

Well I need to upgrade my controller box cause I need to keep torque for my bigger tires. What controller box would yall reccomend and amps? It seems cheaper to buy a quicker motor than a 48v conversion right? Dang where's a free pds motor and kit when you neeeed ittttt

Re: Lookin for speed options...check this!!
Is yours a series cart or a PDS? What motor do you have now, make, model number, what are the ratings on the tag?
You motor speed is too low and that needs to change. Be aware when you do that you will lose some torque. My 48v series cart with a stock motor, 400 amp controller and 18.5" tires runs 28mph with lots of torque. |
