Re: Motor Won't Slide Off
First let me start off by saying THANKS to TahoeDawg (Dave) and I wish he would've said this a lot sooner. NOTHING else worked and let me tell you we even had the drive shaft off and banged and pulled on the shaft and it still wouldn't come off. It wasn't until I picked up the shaft about 6" off the floor and dropped it ONCE like Dave said and it came right off.
UNBELIEVABLE!!! Let me tell you that this motor was rusted on and this should be the FIRST thing you do if the motor is even slightly stuck. It seems a bit much, but all you have to do is undue 4 bolts holding the U-bolts and then the axle comes right off. You definitely want to have 2 people though because it's sort of heavy and the weight is off centered. THANKS TO ALL THOSE THAT OFFERED ADVISE AND TO MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY THAT CAME OVER TO HELP AND TO TAHOEDAWG (YOU ARE THE MAN)!!! I OWE YA DRINK OR CASE IF I'M EVER UP THAT WAY! I THINK THIS THREAD SHOULD BE MADE A STICKY OR AT LEAST A KNOWN REFERENCE. I can't believe I couldn't find any other threads suggesting this or anyone having this problem. |

half an inch or less geta can of WD40 with the long nozle on it.Then spray as much as you can in towards the shaft. Then sit back and leave it soak all night and I will near bet it willjust about fall of in the morning. It worked for me as mine was stuck as well, good and tight.Don't go belting it or otherwise you are going to stuff up parts. You may need to give it a few soft taps with a rubber mallet. Let me know how you go |
