Default no go, only clicking noise

i bought a 1996 club car pd series 48 on the premise that "all it needs is batteries". new trojan 8 v's, supposedly charged, were installed. when i push pedal i get a click & nothing happens. the charge light is flashing slowly. is this simply a case of "not charged enough"? where should i look next 4 a fix?

welcome to BGW, start by making sure the batteries have enough voltage and they and the cables are installed correct and everything clean.........put your charger on and let it charge till it shuts off which may take up to 16 hours...............than if cart dosn,t move still even though the soleniod is clicking it can still be bad, you can jack the rear up and jump the large post to see if cart will then run........also let us know if anything funny goes on when you hook charger up like it dosn,t charge............................
