36 to 42?
Reading through here and seeing some opposing views. What are your thoughts on adding an additional 6v to a 36v system?
Only reason I don't want to go 48 is space, don't want a battery in the bagwell. ...and B - I have 6 new 6v batteries that I just can't bear to get rid of until they die. Tank ya BGW is the F'in BOMB!! I feel like Jesse James working on this thing, could NOT have done any of this without this board. Whoever runs it, thank you! |

Re: 36 to 42?
How ya gonna charge it? Will your existing controller and solenoid handle the extra voltage?
The motor will be fine on 42v. |

Re: 36 to 42?
Your 36 volt charger will not charge the cart as it should. You will end up killing all the batteries if you try and use the 36 volt charger.
Depending on the charger itself you may not even get them fully chargered ever. The surface charge will more than likely kick the over voltage on in the controller if you try and ride it right as you take it off charge. After it sit's a while it will run fine. Back to charger. 36 volt charger has to put more in the battery than what is taken out of them so, with a 36 volt charger you will see about 42-44 volts while charging them and that's why. Now you add a 7th battery which in turns make the pack 42 volts. The same 36 volt charger is barely going to charge the batteries and it will take it longer to charge them over all since it's max out on voltage it can put back into them. I wouldn't think it would be worth the trouble to do it. |

Re: 36 to 42?
6-8volts should fit under any cart seat. The normal 8 volts are the same size as 6 volts.

I'll be switching to 48 once they die, but thought I may just do 42 until then. Seems like it's not worth it though... |

Re: 36 to 42?
Chances are your standard 36V controller will not engage at 42 Volts. It sees it as an overvoltage and will just click. I tried it. If your solenoid is stock you might have issues there as well.

Save up and buy a 48 volt controller and solenoid and just go all out you will be happier in the long run. |
