Default Slow going w 96 CC

I am rebuilding a '96 Club Car that I picked up on Craigs. Not knowing much about golf carts, I decided to just jump in and find out. All the electronics appear to be working fine, a great relief to me. Only problem is working w the old batteries, but so far I have got them up to 90% charge.

When I get in and test drive it, things seem to go fine until going up hill, then it feels like I'm just loosing power. Slowly get it turned and it does well back down. I just feel like I'm not getting the amps out of the sytem. While test driving, I keep an eye on my volt meter, and apears to be ok w minor fluctuations. Wish I had an amp meter. Any help appreciated on ideas of what may be the issue besides just going out and buying new batteies. Thanks

Connect a handheld voltmeter to the pack and tell us what the starting voltage is, then what does it drop to when you go uphill?
This live load test is a good indicator of battery condition.

While test drives, starting V was usually between 37.5 to 38.0V. Then when getting to the hill and the slow going, it is usually in the 36.4 to 37.0V range.
