This is why I asked, I remember hearing way back that you weren't supposed to place batteries on the concrete, but I wasn't sure if it still holds true. Thanks for the advice.

Just a little history. When your great grandfather was a boy, the battery was in a glass bottle protected by a wooden case. Any moisture on the floor could cause the wood to swell and possibly fracture the glass, causing it to leak. With composite rubber cases this is no longer an issue, in fact batteries self discharge at a lower rate with a lower temperature so a cool garage floor could be beneficial.

. . . actually, the old rubber based battery cases were porous enough to allow the electrolyte to leech out of the case, and "ground" itself to the concrete floor, causing the battery to discharge at a faster rate . . . the new solid plastic cases today do not allow this to happen, and as stated, the cool concrete slows down the natural discharge rate of the battery as it sits . . .
