Lightbulb RXV stereo install

So, I started working on installing a stereo in my RXV today. I did not want a head unit and only wanted to use my iphone as the audio source. I decided to go with the Kicker PXi 50.2.

I wanted the wired controller within reach when I am driving, so I decided to mount it in my roof right next to the roof handle. If I have my hand on the roof handle, I will be able to control the volume and track with my thumb.

I'll keep posting updates as I install the speakers, battery and brain unit. Stay tuned!

Will be watching this. I put a mp3/iPod Pyle amp in a sparky RXV and it whines when driving. Tried a separate battery with no joy. Have heard the Kicker didn't do it though.. Good luck :)

Yea, I was torn on the placement of the remote. The dash was just too far to reach so I sat in the cart tonight trying to figure out where to put it. I had my hand on the roof handle and it dawned on me that might be a good place. Only time will tell.

Bull203, the unit is about $200. It is also an amp.

My stereo is old school, but has a 1/8" jack for any iPod, iPad, laptops, and smart phones.

Does yours do BlueTooth, or do you have to plug the phone in old-school style?

My version has an iPod connection but does not have Bluetooth. Their new version will have Bluetooth but since I leave my phone in the cup holder anyway I wanted it to charge at the same time.

Yeah. I have to use two adapters to do that with mine. One is a power jack to USB, and the other is the 1/8" jack.

Default RXV stereo install

Tonight, I ran the speaker wire and iPod connector from the battery compartment to the front dash. I removed the floor mat and ran the wires in the factory wiring location. I brought the lightning plug up through one of the cup holders. Tomorrow I will wire everything and install the speakers. More pictures to come tomorrow.
