Default 04 Precedent Speed Improvements.

I have read countless threads to all of which are very helpful. But looking for advice on how I can speed up my cart to around 30mph. 25 looks more realistic but let set high goals. I have the ge motor and I am not sure on the controller just yet ( how can I tell). Thanks guys!

Amperage equals torque and voltage equals speed.
You can upgrade to a high speed motor and probably get around 25.
The stock controller should be a black Curtis.

I read about magnets and speed code 5. can I do either one or both of these on my model cart?

You can do both. The magnet will get you in the low 20s with no regen braking and I think code 5 does about the same.

You don't want a Bandit if you're trying to run 30 MPH. Call PQ and talk to them. Tell them what you've got and what you want to do. They'll probably tell you something like this....

Convert the car from 4x12V to 6x8V batteries and install a 500 amp controller with a PQ Executioner motor with a 2AWG cable set.

That's my recommendation... Call them and see if theirs is the same.

That's what I was thinking you guys would say. May just do speed code or the magnet for now.

I'd be happy with about 25mph and twice the torque, I need more torque for the hills and rough roads.

One slight correction Jakesnake.
Quote:
voltage equals speed
. If that were the case we would never be able to gain any speed because voltage is always constant 36 or 48V (it may change slightly as the battery discharges) The correct thing to say is that horsepower equals speed. Or the other way to gain speed is to remove the restrictions (governor) CC adds to its cart to classify it as a golf cart. ie cannot exceed 15mph.
