Cost aside, best batteries to purchase

It would be wise to start from the beginning, Are you fully charging the batteries you have?

Yes you can get maintenance free batteries besides lithium. I would if I had the coin. The only thing I don't like about my buggy is the battery maintenance and it dripping regularly.

Just to give you a simple answer to your question... You could potentially lose some speed due to the extra weight of two more batteries which is around 120 lbs. specifically I lost 1 mph overall on my build but I gained 32% more range. Now to offset that you could change controllers, motors, tires/wheels... The list goes on but the simplest method to get more range is add battery capacity and the simplist way to add capacity is more lead.
