Default Troubleshooting power drive 2 charger

Ok, so I've been messing around with the charger on an old 48v cart I bought. I put a brand new set of batteries in, and they currently read 49 volts across the pack. When I plug in the charger, it clicks on and hums, but the ammeter doesn't jump at all. I've done all the tests in the PD2 manual, and everything seems fine. I put a new rectifier in for giggles, just to be safe.

My question is, when I bypass the relay and test the transformer output, I'm getting 52 volts AC. However, the DC side is only 46 volts. Does this seem normal?

Is it typical to see that much of a voltage drop when it converts AC to DC?

I've never tested a charger the way you're describing. If the charger turns on and charges the car, but the ammeter doesn't work, replace the ammeter.

It's not charging the cart, because the charger is only putting out 46 volts DC. The pack is already at 49 volts. Pretty sure fully charged is somewhere around 52 ish volts?

I would say you hooked up the rectifier up wrong DC should be higher than ac feeding it!
And Or you did not switch the meter to DC

Meter was definitely set to DC. I will double check rectifier wiring.

Wiring is correct. Any other thoughts why the AC is higher than DC?? Is this a symptom of the transformer going? The power drive trouble shooting guide says anything over 48 AC means it's still good.

I had issues charging my cart this last weekend, It ended up being we were only getting 104v AC and it wouldn't charge. I now see 57v on charge with 122v AC

Just checked, I got 111 at the outlet, so think I should be good there.

Here's another mystery. I bypassed the relay so the charger was always on, then checked the plug: 46 volts DC. Then I unhooked the charging wires from the battery pack and checked the voltage that the charger was supplying, after it went through the cart wiring. I was only getting 23 volts......what in the heck is going on?? I lost half my voltage somewhere between the cart plugin, and the end of the wires.
